Snow Hill Middle School's Service Learning
What is Service Learning?
Service Learning is about Sixth Graders coming together to provide help for others. This year is the first year for participating in "service-type" activities. All Sixth Grade students in our county have to earn at least 15 hours of Service Learning credits each year in middle school. Students will achieve this goal in sixth grade by helping the students at Cedar Chapel Special School. Each sixth grader will assist a CCSS teacher with teaching their students and will become a "buddy" for a student in that class. Throughout the year, they will build friendships with their buddies, including spending social time at lunch and being an audience member for the CCSS play in the spring. The objective is to learn how to understand and accept others.
